Not every joinery job is a big project. Sometimes you just need a door eased, a skirting board replaced, or a loose handrail made safe. Fix and Build carries out joinery repairs of every size, from a single fix to ongoing maintenance for landlords and property managers across Glasgow.
We'll turn up when we say we will, do the job properly, and leave your home tidy.
Need urgent help? If your property has been broken into, damaged in a storm, or left insecure, see our emergency joinery page.
General joinery repairs
Skirtings, architraves and mouldings
Replacing damaged or missing lengths, and matching original period profiles so repairs blend in.
New-build snagging
Doors that catch or won't latch, gaps opening up around skirtings and architraves, creaking floors and loose fittings as a new home settles.
Floorboards
Replacing rotten, split or damaged boards, fixing loose and creaking boards, and refitting boards lifted by plumbers or electricians. Ask us about larger flooring work too.
Stairs and handrails
Securing loose handrails, repairing balusters and spindles, and fixing worn or creaking treads.
Kitchen repairs
Adjusting and replacing hinges, refitting cupboard doors and drawer fronts, and repairing worktops, plinths and end panels.
Shelving and storage
Fitting shelves, repairing cupboards and presses, and putting up brackets and rails securely.
Boxing in
Neatly boxing in pipes, cables and meters, with access panels where needed.
Loft hatches
Repairing or replacing hatches, and fitting insulated or fire-rated hatches.
Making good after other trades
Repairing timber work after plumbers, electricians and heating engineers, so everything is left finished.
For door and window problems, see our doors page and sash windows page. For rotten bathroom floors, bath panels and resealing, see our bathroom repairs page.
Rot and water damage repairs
Leaks from roofs, gutters, pipes and flats above can cause serious damage to timber. Once the source of the problem has been dealt with, we cut out and replace affected floorboards, joists, skirtings, frames and linings. Where dry rot is suspected, we'll advise you to have it properly diagnosed and treated before joinery repairs begin, so the problem doesn't come back.
Outdoor repairs
Fence panels and posts, gates, sheds, decking, and timber fascias, soffits and bargeboards. We repair what can be saved and replace what can't.
For landlords and letting agents
Keeping rental properties in good repair is a legal requirement, and tenants rightly expect problems to be fixed promptly. We provide reliable joinery repairs for landlords and letting agents, including:
- Repairs reported by tenants
- End-of-tenancy repairs to get properties ready for new tenants
- Safety and security work, such as locks, window restrictors and handrails
- Fire door installation and repairs for flats and HMOs
- Ongoing maintenance for single properties or portfolios
We can liaise directly with tenants to arrange access, and we provide clear invoices with photos of completed work on request.
For factors and shared buildings
Shared parts of a building need regular care, whether it's a traditional tenement or a modern block of flats, and common repairs are often left too long because owners can't agree on who should arrange them. We work with factors and groups of owners on common repairs, including:
- Shared entrance doors, back doors and door closers
- Common stair handrails and balusters
- Loft hatches and roof space access
- Bin store, cellar and storage doors
- Timber repairs after leaks affecting shared areas
We provide clear itemised quotes that factors and owners can share and approve.
Selling your home?
Your Home Report may flag joinery issues such as rot, broken sash cords, damaged floors or faulty doors. Buyers and their surveyors notice these things, and fixing them before you sell can help avoid lower offers or delays. We can work through Home Report items and carry out repairs quickly to help your sale go smoothly.
