A good floor starts underneath. Fix and Build fits engineered, solid wood and laminate flooring across Glasgow, and before any new floor goes down we make sure the boards or subfloor beneath it are sound and level.
We also repair existing floors, from creaking and loose boards to damaged sections in old tenement floors, and fit new skirting to finish the job.
Floor fitting
Engineered and solid wood
Laid on the right underlay or fixed down, with expansion gaps hidden neatly under the skirting or trims.
Laminate
Fitted on the correct underlay, with clean cuts around door frames and pipes.
Doors and thresholds
Doors trimmed to clear the new floor, and tidy thresholds fitted where floors meet.
Getting the base right
Most floor problems start underneath. We fix loose and creaking boards, replace damaged or rotten sections, and lay new boards or plywood to give a sound, level base for the new floor.
Floorboard repairs
Squeaks, loose boards, gaps and damaged boards can usually be repaired rather than replaced. In older homes we match original boards where we can. For water-damaged bathroom floors, see our bathroom repairs page.
Skirting and finishing
We fit new skirting, or refit the existing boards after the floor goes down, matching period profiles where needed, so the job looks finished rather than patched.

Frequently asked questions
Can you fit flooring I've bought?
Yes. Tell us what you've bought and the room sizes, and we'll give you a fixed price to fit it. We can also help you work out how much to order.
Will you lift the old flooring?
Yes. We can lift old flooring and take it away as part of the job.
Will my doors need trimming?
Often, if the new floor is thicker than the old one. We trim doors to clear the new floor as part of the job.
Can you fix creaky floorboards?
Yes. Creaks usually come from loose boards or worn fixings, and they can normally be fixed without lifting the whole floor.
